You can imagine that energy advisors got a lot busier then. That certainly also applies to Energy Inspection. To cope with the flood of requests, they decided to start automating, using a Yarado software robot. Office Manager Anneke Veenstra and Sustainability Team Leader Marc de Linde explain.
First back in time before Yarado comes to help. Marc de Linde: "The recording of a house was completely manual. Making a sketch, measuring everything: facades, windows, doors, roofs. It took an hour on site. Then off to the office to enter everything into the software. One energy advisor could measure and enter about five homes a day." Now it's faster. Marc: "Everything we measure and enter is processed by the Yarado software robot and exported into Excel. This saves a lot of time. Nowadays, one expert can enter 20 to 25 homes per day. So we have become 4 to 5 times more productive."

Professionals do what they do best
This increased productivity ensures that the experts at Energie Inspectie have more time for the important things. Anneke Veenstra: "It's a waste to have professionals doing repetitive entry work. With the time they now save, they can provide more homes with an energy label and Energie Inspectie can focus more on acquiring new customers." Marc concurs: "Because of tightness in the labor market, certified energy experts are scarce. At the same time, those people were spending 60% of their time taking measurements. We have now been able to reduce that to 10%."
A quarter of the week back
Yarado not only helps with the processing of measurements in homes, but also with the processing of quotation requests. Anneke: "We used to do this manually as well and it would take 15 minutes per request. Now the robot does this - also at night, by the way - and in the morning I can switch on my computer and immediately start calling customers. This saves me a quarter of my working week. And the robot doesn't make any mistakes when entering the data either."

After the pilot only more
Was it difficult to start with Yarado? Anneke: "We just took it on and started with a pilot. We liked it so much that it only grew from there. If you think about what you want and how you want to implement it in advance, you will be fine. Just start, you will automatically run into things." Marc: "It really is done in steps. You set something up and then you see other things you can automate. In 20 small steps we went from 30 percent to 70 percent automation. The turnaround time from a request for a quotation to a received label is now no more than thirteen working days. If we still did everything manually we would need twice as many staff."
And how do you like Yarado so far? Anneke: "I am very satisfied with the way Yarado thinks along with us, how quickly you solve things, how accessible you are and how proactive you are when things don't quite work out." Marc: "The whole service is really good." Working with Yarado has also made Energy Inspection sharper on efficiency. Anneke: "We often ask our people: this operation, how often do you do it? How long does it take? We think about that more consciously now than before." Marc: "With every button we press repeatedly, we think: why actually?"

More time for people
That is of course a nice compliment to Yarado. We sometimes ask customers jokingly: how would you pitch Yarado to others? Marc: "You can automate much more than you think now. At Energy Inspection we can now pay more attention to what matters in a recording. How is a house insulated? What materials have been used? You have much more time to have a chat, to answer questions." Anneke: "By automating, you can spend more energy on growing your business. And it saves you time and money."

Finally, we are curious about what the future looks like for Energy Inspection in terms of automation. Marc: "There is a lot more to automate in the energy inspection industry. We will certainly not miss the opportunities to do so." Anneke: "In addition to homes, we are also committed to making office buildings more sustainable. We have a whole business branch in which we want to automate more."
